FutureProof Educators Resource
FutureProof offers us an opportunity to learn how we might go about testing images of work by contemporary Irish artists with the Visual Thinking Strategies method. Our colleagues in the U.S. have supported us with ideas and prompts as to how we might consider VTS as a first step in supporting students to build curiosity around Irish artists contemporary practice and how we might develop accessible resources for students to scaffold their knowledge about art and artists in a youth centred way.
Therefore the following components which we developed from FutureProof are for educators to further test in the classroom. We are eager to hear feedback from educators about their experiences with the image test set and videos of artists in conversation with young people. We are eager to learn how this dual approach works with young people in the classroom. Whether a VTS image discussion with an image in the Image test set, prompts students to look at the videos of young people and artists in conversation, and perhaps better still, encourages students to seek out further information about the artists and their practice, which is readily available on their own webspace.
