Dublin City Council and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment continue to work together and test the training pathway for ‘educators’ in Visual Thinking Strategies.  Trainings are developed based on the evaluations from participating educators – artists, art educators, primary classroom teachers, secondary (art) teachers, science educators and third level educators.    

 

Over the past two years, a cohort of 17 teachers in 8 schools based in the Central Area, in particular in the North East Inner City, have participated in Visual Thinking Strategies training at the LAB. Dublin City Arts Office, through the Neighbourhood Arts Grants, continues to support the trained teachers in the VTS Neighbourhood Schools, through funded co-ordination that supports sharing of practice, building and embedding school ownership of arts practice, and stimulating local support for the programme.  School and teacher engagement is growing.
