The Purpose of the Arts Grants  

The Purpose of the Arts Grants Programme of DCC is to support Arts Practice, Arts Participation, and Audience Development in the DCC Administrative Area through focusing the funding on requests for developmental projects, training and vocational support for Artists, community development outcomes through quality arts actions or process with an overarching emphasis on diversity and equality of opportunity. 

Types of Awards 

The Arts Office provides support for individuals and organisations through a range of funding programs. Funding is allocated through an open call process which is judged by an external panel of experts in the industry. Project Grants  

The Project Award supports both arts organisations and individuals to realise public presentation of new work for the Dublin City Council Administrative Area.  Grants are awarded between €5,000.00 and €10,000.00 for projects which will be realised within the funding year.  

Revenue Grants  

Revenue Grants 2024 are for Arts organisations that contribute to the realisation of the priorities and goals of Dublin City Council in a strategic way, and can act as effective advocates and promoters of the arts to the public, to partners in other agencies and public bodies. A Grant of €10k is guaranteed to each successful applicant.  

Neighbourhood Grants  

Neighbourhood Grants 2024 support arts projects or programmes that begin with residents, local community organisations interested in the arts or with artists living in or interested in working in particular neighbourhoods.  All projects must have strong collaboration between artists and neighbourhood participants. The minimum grant available is €2,000.00 with a maximum of €10,000.00.  

Voluntary Grants  

These grants support arts programmes or projects by voluntary organisations or groups engaging professional artists that significantly advance the artistic ambition of the organisation or group’s activities.  Grants range from €2,000.00 to €10,000.00. 

Community Development Grants  

The City Arts Office are conducting a two year pilot scheme with a view to empowering Arts organisations and Artists to continue to programme meaningfully and effectively in community settings while simultaneously supporting community development practitioners and organisations to engage with the Arts and the benefits it brings to local communities. €50K will be allocated to each administrative area of Dublin City Council and applicants may apply for a minimum of €5K and a maximum of €20K. 

Bursary Awards  

This award is not for the creation and presentation of new work to the public. It is for an individual Artist to pursue a work plan that may include training, mentoring, research and capacity building. Bursary applications are welcome from applicants of all artistic backgrounds. Artists may apply for a maximum award of €5,000.  

Incubation Space Awards 

The Incubation Space Award is intended to enable innovative artists / arts companies / collectives - working in any artistic discipline - to research and develop new works or collaborative methodologies, over a period of one to six months, through the provision of a dedicated work-space in Unit 4, James Joyce Street.
