Pulse Dublin Docklands

Alva Gallagher, 2023

Location: City Quay, Dublin 2

View map

Pulse by artist Alva Gallagher was developed by Fáilte Ireland under their Destination Towns Programme, in partnership with Dublin City Council.

The frame supports a canopy mesh that is reminiscent of a large fishing net. The netting is laced with 20,000 programmed LED lights that respond to movement, pulsating waves of light when a person walks underneath. The lights take the form of the constellation of stars that was present above Dublin City on the night of May 22nd 1665 when the first Liffey Ferry, The Dockers Taxi, was launched. Pulse is active between Dusk and midnight each night.
