Culture Night at the Lab Gallery

Join us this Friday from 6–9pm for an evening of art, play, and conversation.

Our current exhibiting artist, Aaron Sunderland Carey, presents his solo show:
Nach Cuma? Who Cares? The exhibition will remain open late for the evening.

At 7pm, Aaron will host a special game of Jenga with discussion prompts, joined by artists and researchers John Bissett, Thais Muniz, and NAMACO (Han Hogan and Donal Fullam). Together, they’ll explore themes from Aaron’s work—class, race, and housing inviting the audience to listen, reflect, and take part in the conversation.

Come for the games, stay for the chats.

The Lab Gallery invites you to a panel discussion on 12 June from 4.45pm to 6pm in advance of the opening of ‘What does it mean to remember?’ an exhibition of work by Ethna Rose O’Regan and Dr. Sinead McCann in collaboration with Dr. Louise Brangan.

Introduction

Dr. Margarita Cappock, Curator, The Lab Gallery

4.30pm - 6pm

What does it mean to remember? Louise Brangan, academic and author of the forthcoming The Fallen:The Magdalene Laundries and Ireland’s Legacy of Silence, who will be  in discussion with Derek Scally, Irish Times journalist and author of the best-selling The Best Catholics in the World.

What role has the arts in recovering this past? A discussion between the artists Sinead McCann, Ethna Rose O’Regan, Evelyn Glynn and Alison Lowry.

Just to note:

Dublin City Council are aware of the sensitivities of this exhibition and its connection to the Magdalene Laundries. The historical suffering of those who worked in laundries has been well documented and is the subject of programmes of recovery and redress.

During this exhibition at The Lab, the artists involved and Dublin City Council staff at the Lab will be sensitive to and supportive of any patron who may find the exhibit or experience distressing in any way.

Funded by Dublin City Arts Office, Economic and Social Research Council, UK, and Arts Council of Ireland.
