Music Town 2024 programme annouced

The National Concert Hall

19th  – 21st July 2024

MusicTown returns to the essence of collaboration for this year's programme, making its home in the National Concert Hall for three days from 19th  – 21st  July. Curated by Leagues O’Toole & David Connaughton they describe the programme as a radio dial of everything that is interesting about Irish music in this moment, as some of the most vital artists of this diverse and multi-cultural landscape fulfill new dreams within collaborative conversations.

Within this programme there is pop bands, experimental vocalists, contemporary classical virtuosos, avant-garde songwriters, new folk traditionalists, electronic meddlers, joyous Middle Eastern party music, and a full symphony orchestra.

An initiative of Dublin City Council, MusicTown 2024 is produced by Foggy Notions with support from the National Concert Hall.

For a further insight into the collaborative ethos behind this year’s festival, Crash Ensemble member Kate Ellis recently spoke with The Goo regarding the exciting and one off performances Crash Ensemble will be doing with some of the most exciting artists in the country in Rachael Lavelle, Mohammad Syfkhan, Elaine Howley and E the Artist. Each event promises to be remarkable and will showcase the breadth of creativity and imagination possible in contemporary Irish Music.

Culture Night at the Lab Gallery

Join us this Friday from 6–9pm for an evening of art, play, and conversation.

Our current exhibiting artist, Aaron Sunderland Carey, presents his solo show:
Nach Cuma? Who Cares? The exhibition will remain open late for the evening.

At 7pm, Aaron will host a special game of Jenga with discussion prompts, joined by artists and researchers John Bissett, Thais Muniz, and NAMACO (Han Hogan and Donal Fullam). Together, they’ll explore themes from Aaron’s work—class, race, and housing inviting the audience to listen, reflect, and take part in the conversation.

Come for the games, stay for the chats.
